Title says it all. I just want to know whether or not Spain can still form the Roman Empire. I'm getting close to finishing all missions as Aragon, and if I can still form Rome I'd like to switch to Spain in the meantime.

Yes, I know the information on the interwebs say that Spain can form Rome, but I want to be absolutely sure as I'm pretty sure this run is the one. You never know what hidden changes happened with 1.3, so again, I just want to be absolutely sure. I'll gladly slog it out as Aragon if Spain can't form it, but hey, more missions = more fun.

And sorry if this is posted wrongly, it's been a while since I've frequented the forums.

All christian country (Catholic, Reformed, Protestant, Anglican, Orthodox and coptic) can form Rome you will get the choice once you take the city of Rome. There is two exception : HRE (once you passed all reform) and the pope

IMO it's better to do it with an other nation than spain who is more catholic oriented and get debuff with the conquest of Rome. I think the best one are Protestant France and any Italian minor who create italy.

What the above poster said.

The Mongol Empire, Rome, and the HRE, are super end tags which any tag can form except other super end tags. The pope is also a super end tag but it has no form conditions.

Thank you so much : )

The reason why I'm trying to do it as Aragon is because I'm going for the other Aragon achievement which is a almost forming Rome. Well.. Apart from.. A lot.. But hey, that'll be easy : P

I'll go Protestant once I've finished Humanist..

Just a comment on the Mongol Empire, only three tags (Golden Horde, Yuan, and Ilkhanate) can form it. But it is in this class because Yuan is an end-game tag.

All pagan countries can also form Rome. I've always liked the idea of doing it that way, but haven't brought myself to actually do it yet.

Slight correction here although: Once you FORM Rome you'll be able to hold Rome without penalty like Italy does. It's just that you'll have to take the province last and will most likely leave the Pope completely nettled with you for a long time until his cores finally fade.

As an aside, beat on him and make him de-core stuff if you remain Catholic. Big-hat hates you anyway, may as well make him hate you for less time.

You could form the HRE, get the achievement, crash the game without saving, reload, and form Rome.

Go go Nahuatl Roman Empire!

Haha you can, but unless you're doing some real shenanigans it would make your new world stuff into colonial nations since forming it moves capital to Rome.

Technically, you could also just flip to Nahuatl as an old world Animist or Fetish nation or something, though you'd not be able to pass reforms and it'd just be the starting Nahuatl religion modifiers...worse than alternative pagan options like Tengri or Fetish by a margin.

Or, form Rome first, go for Mare Nostrum and unify the HRE afterwards. Unless something changed in 1.30, you can still form the HRE even if you're Rome (I did that often enough myself), probably because it's an event and not a regular formation decision.
